Toowoomba Restaurant

2 weeks ago we went to this Toowoomba Restaurant situated at Jalan Genting Klang near the Colombia Hospital near Danau Kota. The concept is like Meat Works, Las Vacas and Me'nate Steak. So Toowoomba offers the same kind of foods. Meats, meats and meats and also a few other varieties like Italian foods (spaghetti and sorts). The price is not that expensive ranging from RM25++ to RM70++ depending on what you order. They also asked you what kind of temperature you want for your me (well done, done, medium well etc) and also what kind of sauce you like (black pepper, mushroom etc.). I give it 4 STARs for overall (Service, food and enviroment). You'll enjoy going there.

Kafe Fatehah

I have found a small shop that calls themselves Kafe Fatehah. Well it really doesn't look like any cafe that's just the name but I can tell you that they served good food here. Been here twice and after the second time I can say it deserves to be told to others.

It is situated in Taman Melawati in front of Masjid Hidayah, Taman Melawati. They served all kinds of food from malay cuisine to indian cooking and chinese style to the western servings. All I can say is that all the foods is  good. The portion is good, the taste is good but maybe the service is a bit off but it's ok as long as the food is good.

I'm going to show you 2 foods that we ordered. The Bee Hoon Cantonese (I had this one and it was good) and the other one is Chicken Chop with Black Pepper gravy.

Panorama Cafe

Situated on the 9th floor of Mercu UEM building in KL Sentral. It offers mixed rice and also ala-carte. The motto is "Eat your Nasi Campur Hotel style while enjoying the panorama from the roof" thats about it that I can translate.

I wanted to take pictures of the foods they served but there was a lot of people queing so sorry people there is no picture of the foods. Sorry again. But try to believe my judgement. The food was so and so like the ones you've eaten at the foodcourt but here it is a bit classy. The plates and cutleries are hotel like. The price of the foods are reasonable but the drinks are a bit expensive. I didn't order any because I am taking my drink at my office (cheapskate). Overall I should say it would be one of the choices to dine in for lunch during office hour. Enjoy the pictures of the rooftop area.

Pannaz Part III

Two more meals has been tested here again. It did not disappoint me at all. Really. It was simple marvelous. Voila! So what did we had this time?

First is the Beef Tenderloin Grill (medium -well) which was exquisite. The beef was grilled perfectly. You can't get any better than this. Served with salad, grilled pineapple and tomato and potato wedges.
Next this is what I had. The mixed grill consist of Lamb, Beef (all meat are cooked medium-well) two sticks of prawns and two piece of Chicken wings. Again I need to stress the tenderness of the meat cook and the side dishes which is the fries. Here is the proof. Look!

Fatty Crab

Seafood mania with the gang at Fatty Crab (I think it was at Taman Megah near KJ LRT station). Who was there? Azri & Jiha, Azriq & Arza and Azreen & Me...Thanks people!

Fatty Crab is always full. Always packed with people. Why did I said this? It is because if you are not lucky, please que for a place to eat. Fatty Crab situated at the end of the shop lot and it is two storey. So the range of time that you need to wait for your turn is about 30 minutes - 1 hour. Depending on the crowd. Does it worth it to wait for that long? Oh yes! Wait till you see the crabs OK! Trust me that you won't regret it. let me give you the address and direction to this place.

Fatty Crab Restaurant
No 2, Jln SS 24/13 , Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya2 Jalan SS 24/13
Taman Megah, 47301 Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Malaysia

So what kind of foods do they served there? They served a delicious Chinese Cuisine. Here is the list of menu that they are serving:
- Sweet & Sour Sauce Crab
- Steam Crab
- Steam Fish Teo-Chew Style
- Garlic Prawns
- Chicken Wings
- Satays
- Fatty Crab's signature fried rice
- Toast

The way they asked their customer on how many kilos you would like to order but by kati's. 4 kati's is about 6-7 crabs. 3 Katis of prawns is about 10-12 prawns. So it is really the way to enjoy your weekend with a nice dinner out for seafood. It was a fun night out.

New York New York Deli (2)

 Latino Chicken Chop
Hawaii Teriyaki Chicken Chop
I have written about New York New York Deli before this so you can view it here to know where it is:

So went there for the second time and try out other dishes:
One is the Latino Chicken Chop (RM19.90). It has a mushroom sauce flavor with a pinch of black pepper. For me this dish is quite normal where you can get it anywhere in western stalls, restaurant etc. Normal but still delicious.

The second dish is the Hawaii Teriyaki Chicken Chop (RM19.90). This dish is superb. The taste of teriyaki sauce that will uplift your taste buds. Yummeh! It is different and absolutely marvelous. Kuddos to the cook. Even though I ate a lot but I'm not that adventurous but after this meal I want to try more eccentric dishes more.

Note: The owner of this place is friendly and the staff serves you with a big smile. Kuddos again!

Sambal Hijau

Restaurant Sambal Hijau situated in Sungai Penchala on the right side of the masjid serves many Malaysian and Thai delights. I have read that most of the reviews saying their Malaysian foods serves like mixed rice (nasi campur) are extraordinary and cheap as well. Also there are a few saying their Thai foods are good too but let me say from my point of view.

So yesterday we ordered a few dishes:
Tom Yam Campur (for 2 person is RM12) - Ordinary
Ayam Gajus (for 3 person RM15) - Not so good
Kailan Ikan Masin (for 2 person RM6) - Ordinary
Udang Goreng Tepung (for 2 person RM10) - Good
Telur Dadar (for 4 person RM6) - Ordinary

Total food plus drinks comes to around RM69.00. For me the Thai delights here very ordinary. No special remarks can be made and as for the total cost for all the foods and drinks is quite expensive because the Tom Yam is quite small and the portion are very little. That is what I thought. But hey...everyone has different taste buds kan?Why don't you guys/gals try it for yourself. I'll be there again to try out their Nasi Campur (mixed rice with Malay traditional cuisine).

Nirwana Restaurant, Bangsar

Restaurant Nirwana serves Indian cuisine and most famously in Malaysia it is called "Nasi Daun Pisang" because usually we ate this kind of food on a banana leaf. This meal consist of white rice, 3 different types of vegetables(cucumber, long beans & fried lady finger), mixed curry gravy (either chicken curry, fish or mutton curry). The side dishes that you can add are chicken(fried or with gravy or rendang), fish(same specfication as the chicken), mutton and a whole lot other preferences. Take your pick! :p

So Nirwana Restaurant situated at Jalan Telawi Bangsar right beside the new building for Bangsar Village. It is at the shop lots on the right you can see Ambank. The restaurant is on the same row as Baskin Robbins, Chawan & Madam Kwan. So I don't see that it is difficult to look for it.

The foods here are acceptably good and the service is also good. Even when there is a large crowd they serve you right on time. Only that 1 thing is that the drinks will arrive a wee bit late. Maybe yesterday the place was packe. Everything you order here they will serve it on a piece of Banana Leaf. The uniqueness taste from the banana leaf does have an effect on you taste buds. Yummy!

SS2 Stalls

Sotong Kangkung!
Balitung! aka Siput Sedut

So can where you get this Balitung aka Siput Sedut in KL and PJ area?I recommend you to go to SS2 stalls. The stall that sells this when you lookstraight ahead, the stall is on the left side and the last stall. Same goes with the sotong kangkung (but to me this is not the best it only taste random). The Balitung is the best. It taste good. Love it! My friend ordered Nasi Goreng Tomyam from the stall next door and it was good too. So this is a short review from me on where you can get good Balitung in KL & PJ at night.

Happy Eating!

Murtabak Singapore Restoran Noor

Murtabak Restoran Noor Batu Pahat. One of the best murtabak ever. Why? The murtabak has multiple layer of even small murtabak. The meat are everywhere. The eggs are sufficient. The dough are thin and perfect. The restaurant that sells this located in Batu Pahat near to BP Mall in front of Kampung Istana. It is a small restaurant but the murtabak is the best. I had this for breakfast this morning. Yeay! Alhamdulillah. So those who wants to have a taste of this delicacy just give me a call. LOL.

New York New York Deli

New York New York Deli situated in One Utama (New Wing LG) opposite Cold Storage offers a wide selections of foods, drinks & desserts. The prices for the foods & drinks are acceptable and average. You will not regret it when it comes to indulge yourself in fine cuisine. Remarkable after 4 years staying in BU and become the Mayor of OU I never went here. LOL. As I said, the foods here are delicious. Believe me you! So come on down to New York New York Deli. Below are the foods we ordered:

Spaghetti Alio Olio with Mushroom (Carbonarra) RM15.90
Totally mind blowing with a lot of mushroom and beef or chicken bacon (I don't know which.LOL).

Cheesy Chicken RM25.90
Oh WOW!This was great. I had this. The cheese really melts in your mouth. Totally worth it.

Spaghetti Bolognese with Meatballs RM21.90
Put on some extra cheese topping on it you will feel like the Bolognese exploded in your mouth.

Mudpie with Ice Cream RM11.90
Maybe I don't like pies that much but this dessert was OK.

Commando Kiosk (Asam Pedas Melaka)

Today's lunch I went to Commando Kiosk for Asam Pedas Melaka near to Dagang Avenue (beside the Surau where you can find other small shop lots). This will be my 3rd time there and I think it's time for me to make a review.

It open from Lunch time to Dinner time (I think by 10pm the shop already closed). I have been to all 3 times, lunch, tea time & dinner. They served only Asam Pedas with varieties of fishes.
  1. Pari & Kembung - RM7
  2. Merah, Jenahak, Terubuk & Daging Tetel - RM8
  3. Kepala Jenahak & Merah - RM16
  4. Udang Goreng - RM10
  5. Telur Dadar - RM1/egg
All prices are for per serving.

So how is the food like over here?
I couldn't say that it is so Good as it is not even Great. The gravy taste normal no wonderful satisfaction. The service was a bit poor but I can give a thumb up for the owner for entertaining the customers with a broad smile.

Will you come here again?
I will certainly do but it depends on the situation if there is no other food joint opens or too lazy to go anywhere else. Overall rating for this place is Normal.

Uncle K Kopitiam

 Menu
 Nasi Goreng Ikan Tenggiri
 Nasi Goreng Kambing
Cantonese Mee Hoon+Kuey Teow
Uncle K Kopitiam situated in TTDI at the old CIMB near VADS. How was the food there? The have a whole lot of selections from Malay delights, to chinese foods, Indian cuisine, Arab dishes, Western wonders and whole lot more. The menu itself is 2 inch thick!

How about the foods? I have tasted 3 dishes, and all I can say their Nasi Goreng Kambing is tasty. The other 2 dishes they need more improvement. Haven't got the chance to try their desserts. They have a lot of option. Maybe some other time.

For now, I can say it is a good place to chill and their foods are OK..not bad. Will I come again? I would say maybe I would but not in the near future. It will not be my first option to go out for lunch though.

Las Vacas

Alhamdulillah. Burppp!!! Last Saturday my friend treat us to a place called Las Vacas (actually I was the one that give this idea because I want free food and would like to test the foods here..haha..sorry mate but appreciated it). As per my previous entry, this place and Me'nate Steak House holds the same concept. So I will not gave a long detail.

So I ordered one Ribeye (medium-well) which cost around RM72 (for Ribeye it is RM36 per 100gram). I found it simply delicious and to compare it with Me'nate, it is almost the same (I'm wondering if they have the same lecturer..hehe). What is the difference? Well in Me'nate you have free flow of drinks but here the drinks are quite expensive. Any other? Well the presentation here, the meat is served with salad (since I have no interest in salad I will be a little bit bias). The price for the meat here is cheaper than at Me'nate (but you need to understand that the drinks here is expensive but at Me'nate it's free. So give and take, I think it is about the same).

Would you recommend to us to Las Vacas? Yes, I would, once I made a good review of the things here for you to test it, it means that it is a place to go. What other things I can eat here? I mean the menu here does not list a long one, but they burgers (which are made from the meat you pick, mind you that it will be an extraordinary burger. Nyum! Nyum!).

Go!Go!Go! (side note: after your meal, there is Baskin Robbins next door which is 5 steps from Las Vacas. Go and have your dessert there).
The Ribeye!!!
My Ginger Beer...I LOVE the bottle!!!

Me'nate Steak House

Hey! Hey! I'm back with the food review. Where to now? Now I'm bringing you to Me'nate Steak House at Ampang Jaya. What do they serve? As you can see from the picture above and the name of this place obviously that they sell steak.

This is a beef shop (should I say butcher?hmm...) with a whole lot of beef. From Angus, Ribeye, Sirloin, Lamb to Wagyu. You name it. Hey! They got it. So how does this work? Well, first of all you need to choose your meat (the price range from RM40 - RM200. Depending on the meat and weight) and how you want them to be cook. Raw, Medium, Medium Well, or Well Done. The meat you choose will be cooked according to your preference. The drinks are free flow. Woot!Woot!

They also served other dishes like spaghetti and some seafoods. I don't remember that much.

They don't have the option of sizzling, black pepper or mushroom. They will grilled your meat to your preferences. Don't worry it will not be tasteless, the meat will be juicy and full of taste. It will be served with coleslaw and mashed potato. It is delicious. (You know me that I will not recommend to a place that is BAD).

Well, got ahead. What are you waiting for??? If you do not know the place, give me a call. If you are single, a girl and you're awesome please call me out for a date. I am UP for a free food. hahahaha...
BON APETITE!!!

Restoran Sekinchan Ikan Bakar

This entry supposed to be written a while back that is in 2010. Since a lot is going on at the office and tied up with my work so I am going to write it now.

Restoran Sekichan Ikan Bakar was establish in a small town called Sekinchan located in Selangor. Now they have a few outlets in major cities like Kuala Lumpur (Centrum Setiawangsa, Cheras, Prima Sri Gombak), Petaling Jaya (Kota Damansara), Puchong and Subang (Taipan). I think one day it can become a franchise as long they owner has a niche for becoming a food tycoon.

So what are they serving there?
A whole lot of varieties of fresh fish and seafood like Ikan Bawal, Ikan Sebelah, Ikan Jenahak, Ikan Keli, Ikan Kembung, Ikan Siakap, Ikan Caru, Ikan Talapia Merah, Prawns, Squids, Lala, Kerang, Crabs etc. They also served Nasi Lemak, Paru Goreng, Ayam Goreng Berempah, Ulams etc.

First you need to do is find a place to sit (hahaha..), then choose your seafood, they charged you by kilos and also depending on the fish you take. That is the seafood tray, they have rice and other non seafood food in a corner where you can pick and choose.

It is also known they have a great paste (sambal) for the seafood but to my taste buds, it is just OK! The foods are nice but not great. The place is cozy and spacious (I've only been to 1 outlet in Kota Damansara). The price was quite expensive but what the heck? It is not easy to find seafoods in KL. At least you don't need to go out of town let say to Banting or Umbai for seafood. Feast your eyes on the pictures just for your info...Enjoy your foods there.

Wadi Hadramawt III

Again..We went to dine in Wadi Hadramawt..I am addicted to Arab foods..isit because of my origin? (yeah right..just because your grandfather are from Yemen you claim you are a Super Arab..beranganlah kau..hehe).

So the foods???What isit this time?

Maqluba - I had Maqluba but it is not that very nice because it is quite oily and gravily(is there any such words?)..It is cooked with spices and yogurt...as a Bugis blood member this is not my food...hahaha..

What about the other one?

My cousin had this one. It is better than mine and this is the version of Lamb Haneeth but rather than cooked in an oven it has gravy and a soup. Served with Mandy Rice. So almost all the rice menu here I have tasted and overall I prefer this place rather than Al-Rawsha.

So guys/gals, its your pick..its your taste buds...Enjoy!!!

Wadi Hadramawt II

Went back to Wadi Hadramawt for my second review of the foods there. It is a simple dish called Lamb Haneeth (RM23). The lamb is cooked with spices inside brick oven for 2 hours. What about the taste? It was amazing. You can taste the spices inside the lamb and also the lamb is cooked into tenderness. Well deserved to get a standing ovation (exxagerate more I think). The rice they used Mandy rice.

We had our Adani. The lovely tea with milk in a pot. A GREAT COMBO with the Lamb Haneeth.

Nasi Kandar Zainul

Do you believe it that I had this for my breakfast in the morning? at 9.00 a.m.

Does it look so tempting to you? or is this too much for you? I can say this...While I'm writing this, my stomach is rumbling and I am hungry.

Nasi Kandar Zainul is located in Petaling Jaya. Where exactly? Do you where PJ Hilton is? Yes, it is on that side of the Federal Highway. Do you know where A&W PJ is? Yes, Nasi Kandar Zainul is situated along the road towards A&W but it is on the other end the first building you saw when going through that road. It's inside it.

Well from what I know, the shop starts serving from 7.00 a.m., at 7 am eating nasi kandar you mean? You crazy bro! Not at all. It was good. So they served all the typical Nasi Kandar dishes from Kari Kepala Ikan to big and juicy Fried Chicken. So if you come there and order Nasi Kandar Ayam (they'll ask you half chicken or full..if half your nasi kandar will cost you around RM4 if full RM6) thats what you get.

So what so great about this place? The curry of course. They taste good and I say it has the same level of taste for a Nasi Kandar shop in Sungai Wang. You can even smell the curry after you have washed your hands and stayed for 1 day. I can say also it is cheap. It is even better tasting and pricing rahter then you go eat at your mamak stalls or mamak restaurant like Pelita, Kayu etc. All of that are overated.

so I rate you Nasi Kandar Zainul...5 Stars...Hooray...and thanks to ArzaAzriq for the place...
